With Capital Bikeshare expanding and the M Street cycletrack finally underway, cyclists in the District haven’t had it this good since cars were invented. But one problem persists for D.C.’s two-wheeled travelers: the steep hill that runs north of Shaw. Figuring out which way to approach the hill can make the difference between a successful trip north of V Street and a sweaty one. Sixth Street and Georgia Avenue are too frenetic, and 14th Street stretches out forever. But with a bike lane, an easy grade, and comparatively little traffic, the one-block 11th Street approach is just right.
