Reddit’s phantom Taco Bell delivery guy
On one of the District’s many snow days this winter, Reddit user JoeCamel420 pitched D.C. Redditors a deal: His car dealership would only service his truck if he put more miles on it, so he’d decided to pass a couple hundred miles by delivering Taco Bell orders in the storm. As he made his rounds, news of the gordita-bearing delivery man’s generosity reached the Huffington Post, the Washington Post and Esquire. But it all turned out to be a hoax days later when the mystery benefactor went on WJFK to reveal that he’d never intended to deliver any tacos. Instead, to the disappointment of Taco Bell lovers who made orders that went unfilled, it was all some sort of meta media stunt. Truly, some things are too good to be true.
