Best City Agency Twitter Feed

Metropolitan Police Department
The savvy team behind the Metropolitan Police Department’s Twitter feed isn’t satisfied with simply tweeting dry crime and traffic alerts to the public. Instead, it combines social media with what appears to be old-school Microsoft Paint to create arrows and ALL CAPS notices on pictures to ensure that its messages are perfectly clear. If there’s a car accident that shuts down streets, MPD will tweet a satellite image of the road when it opens again, with arrows pointing to each lane and the word OPEN written across the image. MPD brass, though, is rather modest about its superior Twitter feed; the department won’t even reveal who’s behind the account. And when asked what all these avant-garde arrows and shapes mean, a spokeswoman would only say, “The arrows and signs are used as a visual reference.”
