It’s sometimes hard to question Best of D.C. voters. Last year, El Pollo Rico was picked as D.C.’s best chicken by Washington City Paper
readers. And how can we disagree? There’s something charming about the Spartan, no-frills dining area in El Pollo Rico’s Arlington location. Picnic tables are perfect for family or group outings, but first, you have to stand in line in front of the giant spinning rotisseries. El Pollo Rico sometimes gets low marks for its sides—the fries and cole slaw are nothing special. But the chicken is something to shout about, so much so that El Pollo Rico’s line can often stretch out the door. The juicy, flavorful drumsticks and breasts are worth the wait, especially when the meat gets even more bite from that magic green sauce.
