It’s a well-documented fact that many of the nation’s current Supreme Court justices are arts aficionados. You’ll find them at the opera and at book parties, but you’ll also frequently find them at Arena Stage’s complex on the Southwest Waterfront. Whether it’s because the theater’s programming aligns with their interests (Arena did debut a play about late Associate Justice Antonin Scalia in 2015) or they’re just eager to take in some excellent drama, the chief jurors seem to enjoy their evenings at the theater whether they’re on stage (Ruth Bader Ginsberg recited a monologue in 2014’s Our War
) or in the audience. A recent sighting of Sonia Sotomayor nearly brought my date to tears.
